Camp Stores Office, Eau Claire Camp No. 130, internment camp in Kananaskis Valley - solo in inglese

Photograph of two men standing in front of the camp store at Eau Claire Camp No. 130 in Alberta. During World War II the Canadian government authorized the internment of a number of men and women who they deemed enemies of the state. They were interned in a number of remote camps across the country. While in the camps the internees were paid for work completed in the camp and were able to purchase small goods such as toothpaste and cigarettes at the camp store. German prisoner of war Alfred C.W. Giesendoerfer (Internee number 40016) has been identified standing at left.
